"Saturday Morning Meeting" -- The Orleans, Indiana, town square teems with activity as vendors display their products, and potential customers browse and enjoy the company of neighbors and friends during the Farmer's Market.

For area folks, the Market is a weekly social event. For many years, I set up a booth there and sold my artwork and jewelry from May through October, until I opened my 'brick and mortar' shop.

When I planned this painting, I tried to include as many important elements as possible -- elements that made the market so special: the dusty pink victorian home in the upper left which was later  destroyed by fire; Pat, who grew plants and flowers in his greenhouse and brought them to sell; an Amish family who sold produce; Kim, whose family made such beautiful hand-crafted jewelry; a lady who had yummy baked goodies every week; the couple who sold eggs, and bags made of recycled grocery sacks; Jim, one of the Market coordinators; the Bookmobile; and the recycling truck.

Unmatted, Unframed, signed giclee print of an original oil painting by Mitchell, Indiana, artist Janet C. Foster. On watercolor paper. Available in 2 print sizes, and notecard (with envelope.) Shown matted and framed for illustration only.
